As I mentioned last Friday, I can not wait to see how the TSM operation center works. I have installed it in my Sandbox environment. The installation process supposes to be pretty straight if your server is named correctly. In my case, my server does not have a valid name that the TSM Operation Center accepts. This is how I did it:
1) Download the package ‘6.4.1.000-TIV-TSMOC-Windows.exe’ from IBM fix central, and double click to let it self extract to the same folder.
2) Double click ‘install.bat’ to kick off the installation
3) Tick to install ‘IBM Installation Manager’ and ‘IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Operations Center’.
4) Oops! It complains the host name is not valid. My server is named as TSM_Sandbox in which the underscore is not considered as a valid character for server name.
5) Then I tried the command method to install to see if I can get any luck or more information.

6) Based on the above information, now I know the underscore is not a valid character for server name. I either rename my server or install the OC on another server with a proper name.
7) BUT I don’t want to neither rename my server nor go to another server. I played some tricks: add the TSM-Sandbox to my host file and set the computer name to TSM-Sandbox in the dos session. And it works!!
