Hi Jackie, do you have any experience with tsm and as400 integration ?? My company wants to backup db2 on as400 using tsm.
Thanks for your help
Hi Luis, I did not do it personally. Try Google, there should be some information out there.
Hi, you must use BRMS for AS/400
Great site with lots of information! When would you have time to do a step by step foolproof guide to upgrading tsm administration center 6.3.4 to 6.3.4.300 while maintaining custom reports, connection and user information
Hi Jakie, could you please show me how to migrate from TSM 5.5 to TSM 6.2 which has different server.
Thanks
Hi Jackie,
I face a problem of TDP for Exchange 2010 configuration in a DAG environment.
I have three DAG nodes; but for test reasons, I have just installed the BAC/TDP in the most passive server and “finish” all DAG recomended configurations for such case.
After all, nothing works. When I schedule my backup job in the TSM server side, after linking it with the TSM_DAG_NODE, the only node configured (the most passive node) responds but the schedule failed with RC=9009
have you an idea?
Hi Jackie, do you have any experience with tsm 7.1 with Operation Center, and work with TS3200?
Hi Jackie,
Do you have something wrt to client performance parameters like resourceutilization, maxnummp etc. I want to know if resourceutilization parameter has any role when taking backup to a disk pool.
Hi Jackie,
I get a requirement for setup tsm schedule for client server.
SCHEDULE NAME ACTION Start Days START TIME Retention
DAILY Backups DIFFERENTIAL M-F 7:00 PM 5 weeks
WEEKLY FULL Sat/Sun 7:00 PM 10 weeks
MONTHLY FULL First Weekend every Month 7:00 PM 1 year
QUARTERLY FULL First Weekend every 4th Month 7:00 PM 3 years
ANNUAL FULL Dec 31 / Jan 1 7:00 PM 7 years
Can’t understand well. How to manage so many schedules in TSM.
Eric
Creating schedules is easy, please read my previous post – http://jackiechen.org/2012/06/11/tsm-6-3-create-schedule/
Hi Jackie,

Ensure the scheduler is running on the node. In some cases, you have to re-install it. I have some seen that scheduler runs but could not talk to the TSM server.
Hi Jackie,
I check dsmsched.log and find this error info.
11/10/2014 16:35:38 ANS0299E Scheduler cannot be started manually because the value of MANAGEDSERVICES option is SCHEDULE.
11/10/2014 16:35:38 Scheduler has been stopped.
So I update dsm.opt and remove MANAGEDSERVICES option. And restart TSM Client Acceptor and Scheduler. Will check if the scheduler works or not later.

The scheduler in stop status is normal, as it is managed by the CAD (Client Acceptor Daemon). Read my post on how to install the client, double check your configurations. – http://jackiechen.org/2012/05/28/install-tsm-backup-archive-client/

Daily# (Incremental backup all local files and directories.)
define schedule TSMBACKUP IDES-ECC_Daily_Incr description=”IDES-ECC Daily Backup C: Drives” action=incremental options=’-domain=”all-local”‘ startdate=11/06/2014 starttime=19:00:00 duration=1 durunits=hours dayofweek=WEEKDay

how to backup a specific data on a specific cartridge and then check out this cartridge on TSM 6.3 with a TS3200 library ? i want to choose a specific tape to make my data in, and only a set of data, is that possible with TSM 6.3, thanks in advance
I went through TSM documents & found really good. If you have TDP for Oracle for AIX & Lanfree for both AIX oracle & SQL can you post it.
Hi Jackie,
We have deployed SQL Server 2012 on Windows Server 2012 R2 Virtual Machine with Physical RDM for databases (directly allocated storage LUNs).
The dedicated TSM Server is deployed on separate dedicated Blade.
Flex Chassis containing all blades is connected to SAN Storage and Tape Library.
We are using Disk to Disk to Tape methodology for Backup.
Following are components deployed in our environment:-
TSM Components on SQL Server:-
TSM Server – version: 7.1.1.100
BA Client at TSM Server – Version: 7.1.2
TSM for VE – VM Backup – 7.1.1
TSM for Database – Database Backup – TDP 7.1.1
VMware Components on SQL Server:-
VSphere Client– 5.5
VM Tools for integration TSM agents
Issue:-
We are not able to do LAN Free backup though TSM in virtualized environment.
You are requested to provide inputs for the problem.
Regards
Rajesh Gupta
